Boran Law — company and mission

Our Story & Mission

A Practice Founded on Patience and Precision

Boran Law was established to give Bangkok families a calm, considered place to think through the legal dimensions of inheritance — without feeling hurried or pressured toward any particular outcome.

About Boran Law

Where the Name Comes From

The word boran (โบราณ) carries the sense of something old, considered, and worthy of care — a fitting name for a practice whose work centres on documents and arrangements that reach back through family time. Boran Law was founded in Bangkok by a small group of lawyers who felt that inheritance and succession work, precisely because it concerns family memory and long-term planning, deserved a slower, more attentive approach than most commercial practice allows.

The practice opened its doors on Petchaburi Road in Ratchathewi with a deliberate intention: to see no more clients than could be served well, and to move at the pace that families — rather than billing targets — set. That intention has not changed. Each matter is taken on individually. File loads are kept at a size that allows for unhurried reading and quiet conversation.

The work of Boran Law falls into three related areas: reviewing the older documents that families hold and may not fully understand; recording heirlooms and culturally significant pieces so their intended path is clear; and coordinating long-line succession arrangements for families thinking across more than one generation. All three are grounded in the Thai Civil and Commercial Code and carried out with the understanding that families may wish to revisit and adjust what has been put in place.

Our Working Principles

Unhurried by design

We do not set fixed timelines on consultations or document reviews. Families should feel free to pause, to ask again, and to take as much time as they need.

Transparent at every step

Any fee adjustment or additional scope of work is discussed and agreed before it proceeds. Families are never presented with unexpected additions.

Confidential by obligation

All documents and records produced remain with the client. Nothing is shared beyond the instructed matter without explicit direction from the family.

Plain in language

Legal formality is preserved in drafted documents. In conversation and in written summaries, plain language is preferred, so families understand what has been prepared on their behalf.

Professional Standards

How We Work

Thai Bar Registration

All lawyers at Boran Law are registered members of the Lawyers Council of Thailand. Registrations are maintained in good standing and renewed annually.

Client Confidentiality Protocol

A written confidentiality protocol is in place for all matters. No family documents, conversations, or records are referenced in any external context without the client's direction.

Scope Agreement in Writing

Before any work begins, the scope of each service is confirmed in a simple written record. Any subsequent change requires the family's written agreement before it proceeds.

Secure Document Handling

Physical documents are stored in locked cabinets and returned to clients at the close of each matter. Digital copies are held on encrypted, access-controlled systems.

Periodic Review Scheduling

For long-line succession matters, a review schedule is established at the outset. Families are contacted at agreed intervals to consider whether arrangements remain suited to the family's current position.

Continuing Legal Education

All practitioners complete the continuing education requirements set by the Lawyers Council of Thailand, with additional reading in succession law and cultural heritage documentation.

Inheritance Law Practice in Bangkok

A Note on the Work

Inheritance and succession matters sit at a particular intersection of law and family life. The documents involved — older wills, land title certificates, family correspondence — often carry meaning that extends beyond their legal effect. A will drafted by a grandparent may reflect priorities that the family has not discussed openly since. A land title may describe a property that the family understands quite differently from how it appears on the page.

Boran Law works with this dimension of succession carefully. The legal reading of each document is provided alongside a plain-language summary that the family can keep and refer to over time. Questions that the review raises are noted, not answered prescriptively — because many of those questions are ones for the family to consider at their own pace, not matters for the lawyer to resolve on their behalf.

Bangkok families navigating Thai succession law sometimes find that earlier arrangements, made in different circumstances, need to be revisited in light of how the family has grown or changed. The long-line succession coordination service exists precisely for this situation. It is designed as a working framework — a set of documents and conversations that can be returned to and adjusted — rather than as a fixed conclusion.
